WHEEL PROTECTION

Less Adhesion.
Easier Cleaning.

Wheel ceramic protection does not stop brake dust from being produced. It creates a more manageable, chemically resistant surface that helps reduce how strongly brake dust, road film and contamination adhere—making regular wheel care easier and less aggressive.

WHY PROTECT WHEELS?

Brake Dust Is Inevitable. Difficult Maintenance Doesn’t Have to Be.

Performance brakes, daily driving, heat and road contamination can make wheels one of the most demanding exterior surfaces to maintain. Ceramic protection is valuable because it supports a gentler, more predictable cleaning process.

01

Reduced Contaminant Adhesion

Brake dust and road film can be easier to release from a properly prepared and protected wheel surface.

02

Easier Routine Cleaning

Regular maintenance can require less aggressive chemistry and scrubbing when contamination is not allowed to accumulate heavily.

03

High-Exposure Protection

Wheel-specific ceramic protection provides a sacrificial layer on surfaces exposed to heat, water, road film and repeated washing.

04

Supports Long-Term Care

The goal is not permanently clean wheels. It is making ongoing maintenance more manageable while preserving the finish underneath.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT LEVEL

Wheel Faces or Wheels-Off?

The right service depends on the wheel design, how much of the wheel you want protected and whether the barrels justify the additional labor.

WHEEL FACES

Practical Protection for Visible Surfaces.

  • Wheels remain installed
  • Wheel faces and accessible exterior surfaces cleaned and decontaminated
  • Surface preparation as required
  • Ceramic protection applied to the prepared wheel faces
  • Best for well-maintained daily drivers and clients focused on easier routine cleaning
WHEELS-OFF

More Complete Access and Protection.

  • All four wheels removed and correctly reinstalled
  • Deeper cleaning and decontamination of faces and barrels
  • Ceramic protection applied to wheel faces and barrels
  • Wheel wells cleaned while access is available
  • Particularly useful for performance vehicles, higher brake-dust output and clients wanting more comprehensive protection

Wheels-off is not automatically the better choice. If the barrels do not justify the additional labor, wheel-face protection may provide the better value. VDS recommends the level that matches the vehicle and maintenance goals.

THE VDS PROCESS

Preparation Comes Before Protection.

01

Inspect

Assess wheel finish, design, contamination, existing damage and the level of access required.

02

Decontaminate

Remove brake dust, road film, iron contamination and other bonded material using finish-appropriate chemistry and tools.

03

Prepare

Prepare the cleaned surfaces for coating, addressing additional contamination or condition issues where justified.

04

Protect

Apply wheel-specific ceramic protection to the selected prepared surfaces and allow it to set correctly.

05

Maintain

Provide practical maintenance guidance so the coating supports easier cleaning over time.

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS

Ceramic Protection Does Not Eliminate Brake Dust.

What It Can Do

  • Reduce how strongly contamination adheres to prepared wheel surfaces
  • Make routine cleaning faster and less aggressive
  • Provide chemical and environmental protection for the wheel finish
  • Help make brake-dust management more predictable when wheels are maintained regularly

What It Does Not Do

  • Stop the braking system from producing brake dust
  • Keep wheels permanently clean
  • Prevent curb rash, stone impact or physical wheel damage
  • Remove the need for regular wheel washing

The coating helps. Maintenance preserves the result.
