PAINT RESTORATION
Restore Clarity. Preserve the Paint.
Paint correction is not about removing every defect. It is about understanding the finish, making meaningful improvements and preserving as much original paint as possible.
Measure
Document key areas of the painted finish to establish a baseline before restorative work begins.
Assess
Combine the documented finish, visual inspection, defects and ownership goals to determine the appropriate approach.
Restore
Enhancement, correction or targeted restoration is selected around the finish rather than an arbitrary defect-removal percentage.
Protect
Once improved, the finish is paired with a protection strategy selected around use, maintenance and ownership goals.
DIGITAL PAINT INSPECTION REPORT INCLUDED
A Better Understanding of Your Vehicle’s Finish.
Before restoration begins, we document paint measurements across key areas of your vehicle to gain additional insight into the consistency and condition of the finish.
These findings help inform our approach—where improvement can be pursued and where preserving the existing finish should take priority.
When your vehicle is completed, you’ll receive a Digital Paint Inspection Report providing a documented baseline of the finish.
THE VDS APPROACH
Improvement Without Unnecessary Removal.
Every polishing step removes a small amount of the paint system. That makes judgment just as important as technique. VDS focuses on the defects that materially affect the appearance of the vehicle while protecting the long-term integrity of the finish.
Inspect
Swirls, scratches, oxidation, etching, haze and isolated defects are evaluated under appropriate lighting.
Understand
Paint history, previous repairs, panel condition and ownership goals influence the restoration strategy.
Correct
The least aggressive process capable of producing a meaningful improvement is selected.
Preserve
Defects that should not be safely chased are left rather than sacrificing unnecessary original paint.
PRESERVATION OVER PERFECTION
Sometimes the Right Decision Is to Leave a Defect Alone.
Not every scratch or imperfection should be removed. A defect may be too deep, the surrounding paint may already be thin, or the improvement may not justify the material that would need to be removed.
Our objective is a visibly better finish—not a promise of perfection at the expense of the paint itself.
Restore what can be safely improved. Preserve what should remain.
SELECTING THE RIGHT LEVEL
Enhancement, Correction or Targeted Restoration?
The appropriate service is determined by the condition of the finish and the result you want—not by forcing every vehicle into the same correction package.
Paint Enhancement
For finishes that need improved gloss, clarity and overall appearance with reduction of light wash marring and minor defects.
Best for: daily drivers, well-kept vehicles and paint that needs refinement rather than deeper correction.
EXPLORE PAINT ENHANCEMENT →Paint Correction
For more significant swirls, scratches, oxidation, haze and visible defects where additional correction is justified by the finish.
Best for: vehicles where defect reduction and restored clarity will materially improve the appearance.
EXPLORE PAINT CORRECTION →Targeted Paint Restoration
Focused work on isolated concerns such as scratches, etching, paint transfer, B-pillars or individual panels.
Best for: a specific defect that does not justify correcting the entire vehicle.
EXPLORE TARGETED RESTORATION →WHAT RESTORATION CAN — AND CANNOT — DO
Realistic Expectations Before We Touch the Paint.
Restoration Can
- Reduce swirls, haze and wash marring
- Improve clarity, depth and gloss
- Reduce many scratches and isolated defects
- Improve oxidation and weathered finishes where viable
- Create a properly prepared finish for protection
Restoration Cannot Always
- Safely remove every deep scratch
- Repair missing paint or stone chips through polishing
- Correct defects beneath the paint surface
- Reverse every previous repair or repaint issue
- Justify sacrificing excessive clear coat for perfection
PROOF OF WORK
The Difference Is in the Finish.
Paint restoration is about making a meaningful visual improvement while preserving the integrity of the finish. This vehicle arrived with significant wash marring and reduced clarity. Following assessment and controlled correction, clarity and depth were restored without approaching the work as a pursuit of perfection at any cost.
BEFORE
01 — STARTING CONDITION
Defects revealed under inspection lighting.
Heavy wash marring, swirl marks and reduced clarity are clearly visible across the finish.
DURING
02 — RESTORATION PROCESS
Controlled correction, not unnecessary aggression.
The finish is worked methodically using the level of correction appropriate to the condition of the paint.
AFTER
03 — FINISHED RESULT
Clarity restored. Original finish preserved.
A visibly cleaner, deeper and more reflective finish while respecting the long-term integrity of the paint.
RESTORE. THEN PROTECT.
Restoration Is Only Part of the Strategy.
Once the finish has been improved, the next question is how it should be protected. Depending on how the vehicle is driven, stored, washed and how long it will be owned, that may mean ceramic protection or a shorter-term protection strategy.
EXPLORE RESTORE + PROTECT →ASSESSMENT FIRST
Let’s Start With the Finish in Front of Us.
Tell us what concerns you about the paint and what you would most like to improve. We’ll review the vehicle, your ownership goals and how it is used before recommending enhancement, correction or targeted restoration.
Choose the Assessment That Works for You
Bring the vehicle to VDS, ask us to come to you where practical, or start with photographs. Photos are useful, but they are not a requirement for an assessment.
Complimentary Pickup & Drop-Off
With qualifying services within our local service area, VDS can collect your vehicle from your home, workplace or another convenient location and return it when the work is complete.
